Saturday Mornings in the 1970's Rocked!

Photo snapped by Laura Moody, Nashville, TN

Anyone born in the last 20 years may never have been introduced to a wonderful animated series created by David McCall called Schoolhouse Rock! It ran on Saturday mornings and kids were able to learn about the English language, science, history as well as other necessary topics like Math.

Music and catchy lyrics were what grabbed our attention and helped us learn and remember facts. Each video educated us while we had big fun memorizing the words and enjoying the dynamic tunes. My favorite video was "Conjunction Junction" but they are all worth watching! Click here for the Complete Schoolhouse Rock! video channel. Enjoy!

How Do You Serve the Lord?

Are you part of a community? Do you interact regularly with your neighbors, or members of your church or a social club? Here in Nashville there is no shortage of ways to lend a hand. :) Ask Jesus where He wants you to help today!

Lately I have been volunteering at The Perennial Plant Society of Middle Tennessee. Check out our website and the PPS Facebook page for images and details on the group. Additionally we just joined Volunteer Match in order to share our volunteer needs for 2017.

If you enjoy caring for plants and learning about varietals that grow well in central TN, join us! Monthly meetings are held at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and are free to the public. :)

Have a great day!

Happy Easter Sunday from Nashville!

Blessings from our King - Photo by Laura Moody.

Today was spent with family. We enjoyed each other's company and praised our Risen Lord Jesus in our hearts, minds and souls for his never-ending grace and mercy upon us.

Very thankful for shelter, nourishment, health, music, creativity, love and joy!
Peace - Laura

Good Friday at Work! :)

Photo taken by Laura Moody, Nashville, TN - 3/25/2016

Wishing you a super holiday weekend!

Jesus is the reason for EVERY season. He died on a cross and was buried. He rose from the dead on the third day, appearing to his disciples.

Mark 16 of the Holy Bible tells this part of His Story.

Jesus is Lord, even over death itself.
Praise the Living King - Ruler over Everything!

Happiness is not in the mere possession of money:
it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.

Today's Creation - Made With Love!

Paper Collage Art and Photo by Christian Artist Laura Moody, Nashville, TN

The colorful cursive words on the UPcycled strips of paper above

Quilt as a Metaphor of One's Journey Here...

Heart Quilt Photograph

One of my FB friends recently shared this image of a classic colorful quilt. It reminds me of my grandmother's creations, especially the log cabin quilt she made for me decades ago. That one did not feature hearts but had the same beautiful strips of fabric aligned "just so" in order to make a design unlike any other: unique, attractive and endlessly interesting.

Isn't that just like how Jesus works in our lives?  Every day he helps us rid ourselves of the characteristics that are not fruitful and replaces them with attributes that benefit not just us but those individuals we meet once or many times. Each one of us has a role here in this time frame. Jesus is in the habit of creating wonderful people for His purposes. All are born to know Him, many will go on to live forever with Him.

The journey inbetween is an intricate and often complex design of our Lord and Savior's grand plan. We may not always understand, but He does and that is what really matters. Glory to God who touches our lives, allowing us to rely on his power and strength daily if we only call on his wonderful Holy name!
Thank you Jesus!

Dark Pink Rose - Symbol of Gratitude & Traditional Way to Say Thank You

Photo of pink rose taken by Laura Moody, Nashville, TN.

A kind stranger at the Park N' Fly Nashville bequeathed this flower to me prior to Valentine's Day. It was a sweet gesture, unexpected and totally appreciated. :) Jesus inspires people to bless others. Isn't that marvelous?!

Mail Art / Postal Art / I Propose To ...

Photo taken prior to purchase of my US sticker stamp that will complete the design. Next step - I mail my revamped McCoy Mill, WV postcard to Jason.

Mr. Postman lent a hand to my creation :).

In 2016 I am participating in another Jason Brown Mail Art opportunity.

Here is an excerpt from his blog site with details on the call for entry -

"I PROPOSE TO FILL THIS POD WITH ..."
A MAIL ART PROJECT

The pod will be part of a Modular Art Pods show at
OZ Arts in Nashville, TN in June 2016.
How would you propose to fill a 4 ft x 4 ft pod?
Let your imagination go wild.

Your proposals will be displayed in this pod.

Participation is Free - use painting, drawing, collage,
mixed media, rubber stamps, etc. on your mail entry.

A postcard size response is encouraged. The Deadline is May 1st 2016.

Why not join in the fun?! :)

Click here to view my submission from last year's call.

p.s. McCoy Mill, WV is featured on the front of my postcard entry. When I visited in 1997 it served as a bed and breakfast. The elderly hostess resembled Chris Kringle's wife and made some of the best cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted. The host looked like Santa and fashioned hand-made wooden furniture on site. The roar of the river kept me awake all night but it was surely a pleasant scenic getaway in close proximity to the Washington DC area.
